Uzbektelecom Achieves 10% Increase in Average Revenue per User with Nexign
Nexign Converged BSS enabled Uzbekistan’s largest telecommunications provider to add 1.6 million subscribers to its customer base and reduce time-to-market for new products and services from two months to two weeks.
St. Petersburg, Russia – 16 September 2020: Nexign (a part of ICS Holding LLC), a leading Business Support System (BSS) and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions provider, today announced the successful completion of a billing systems modernisation project for Uzbektelecom.
Uzbektelecom is the Uzbekistan’s leading telecommunications company, with a network covering the entire country. The company’s local telecommunications network includes more than 2,000 telephone exchanges with a capacity of over 2 million telephone numbers. Uzbektelecom offers mobile and fixed network services, provides broadband internet access and serves is a key supplier of telecommunications services for government agencies. In August 2020, the mobile subscriber base of Uzbektelecom reached 6 million users.
In 2018, Uzbektelecom faced the challenge of replacing its five separate BSS systems with a single convergent solution. The provider also needed to reduce its time-to-market (TTM) for new products and services, to streamline the creation of bundles for subscribers and to reduce operational costs.
After an open tender, Uzbektelecom chose Nexign as their billing systems provider. One of the factors that influenced Uzbektelecom’s decision was the speed, with which Nexign completed a pilot project for the company.
Nexign Converged BSS, which includes a number of online charging and policy control products from the Nexign Network Monetisation Suite, provided comprehensive support for all key business processes of Uzbektelecom. The project consisted of two stages. The first stage included the deployment of the billing system and migration of mobile subscribers to the new solution. The second stage included migration of the company’s fixed and broadband subscribers. At the same time, during implementation of the project the Nexign team ensured business continuity for Uzbektelecom. Replacement of old billing systems and migration of subscribers had zero disruption on customer services and minimal impact on the operator’s existing processes.
As the result of the modernisation project Uzbektelecom reached full mobile-fixed convergence, including broadband network and IPTV services. Nexign's solution allowed Uzbektelecom subscribers to have a single bill for various services. In addition, the implementation of Nexign Converged BSS enabled Uzbektelecom to optimize the costs of maintaining BSS systems, including CRM, roaming, interconnection and debt management.
Nexign helped Uzbektelecom reduce TTM for new products and services from two months to two weeks. With the launch of new multi-platform services and tariffs operator's customer base increased by more than 1.6 million subscribers. The company's revenue per user (ARPU) after the migration to Nexign’s solution increased by 10%.
“Modernization of the billing system allowed Uzbektelecom to launch new services for its subscribers faster and more efficiently and improve the quality of customer service,” says Andrey Gulidin, Chief Commercial Officer at Nexign. “We are happy to support Uzbektelecom’s business development efforts and help them undertake their mission to expand the possibilities of accessible and borderless communication for citizens and guests of Uzbekistan.”
“We are continually growing our network and improving service quality, security, and innovation,” said Alisher Zufarov, Chief Commercial Officer at Uzbektelecom. “We saw Nexign not only as a provider of high-quality BSS solutions, but also as a reliable partner with a focus on building long-term customer relationships and achieving results together. Another important factor was that Nexign, like Uzbektelecom, is committed to utilising leading global technologies and following best practices in the international telecommunications sector.”
